Medical Emergencies and First Aid
Call the Emory Police Department at 404.727.6111 (or 7.6111 from a campus phone).
- Give your location and a description of the incident.
- Identify the type of injury or illness and the number of people involved.
- Please remain on the phone and follow the instructions provided by the dispatcher.
Do not move the patient unless it is unsafe for them to stay in the area.
Apply direct pressure to stop bleeding, if unresponsive and not breathing normally start chest compressions and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Avoid body fluids and be sure to wash your hands or exposed areas of your body with soap and water after rendering care.
Have someone wait for emergency personnel to direct them to the person in need of medical aid.
