Emergency Medical Services

photograph of an Emory EMS emergency vehicleEmory Emergency Medical Service (EEMS) is a volunteer EMS organization that responds to emergency and 911-based calls in the Emory community. In addition, it provides medical standby services for university events. Established in 1992, EEMS began as the vision of a few EMTs who wanted to provide enhanced emergency medical coverage to the Emory community. EEMS became the first licensed collegiate medical first responder service in the state of Georgia.

EEMS is a student-led operation of Emory’s Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response (CEPAR) department which provides a medical first responder service for emergency and non-emergency medical care to Emory University students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the surrounding community. EEMS works in coordination with local EMS and fire departments to provide quality, professional, confidential, and expeditious emergency medical care.

EEMS operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week during Fall and Spring semesters. The response area includes the Emory University Clifton Campus and the immediately surrounding facilities, businesses, and roads. EEMS operates two quick response vehicles and also has additional operations vehicles. EEMS provides standby coverage for a variety of university and community events. Please email us for standby requests. The program also has a strong commitment to community outreach and education. Ask us about AED, CPR, Bleeding Control, and Preparedness Training available to the Emory community.

We offer an annual, campus based EMT course so that we can maintain a cadre of trained volunteers to staff the program. The program has 60+ volunteers who are licensed in Georgia as EMTs, Advanced EMTs (AEMT) or Paramedics (EMT-P). We are looking for people to join our team! If you are interested in joining us, please contact us!
