CEPAR Ambassador Program

The mission of the CEPAR Ambassador Program is to promote preparedness through peer-to-peer education, engagement, and outreach, to strengthen resiliency among the Emory community.

Program Description

The CEPAR Ambassador Program is designed to engage Emory students in campus preparedness. Preparedness Ambassadors act as an extension of the Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response. 

Students selected to become an ambassador will attend monthly meetings where they will learn about campus emergency procedures, undergo training and certifications such as CPR, bleeding control, fire safety, and more. They will engage with their community through planning and participating in campus events, community training, and disseminating safety/preparedness information.  

Ambassadors are chosen through a selective process which includes an application and interview process. They must commit to being an ambassador for at least one (1) academic year.  

The CEPAR Ambassadors is one of many new programs under the “Emory READY” initiative designed to promote preparedness and strengthen resiliency. By mobilizing the student body to become involved in campus safety, we hope that the Emory community will become more prepared and resilient in the event of an emergency. 

Role of a CEPAR Ambassador

Ambassadors will engage in emergency preparedness through planning activities, promoting preparedness and acting as student liaisons for the Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response.  

Ambassador Responsibilities

Ambassadors are required to attend orientation in August. Orientation will provide ambassadors with an overview of emergency preparedness and response. 

Ambassadors are expected to attend monthly meetings hosted by the CEPAR office. Meetings will cover current events and highlight emergency procedures and preparedness topics such as medical emergencies, severe weather, fire safety, etc. related to the Emory community.  

Ambassadors may be requested to participate in additional emergency preparedness training (ex., First Aid/CPR, Stop the Bleed, Fire Safety, FEMA courses, etc.). Training requirements are at the discretion of the CEPAR Program Advisor.  

Ambassadors are expected to disseminate preparedness information learned from monthly meetings and training through communications, events, and activities to the campus community.  

Ambassadors are responsible for hosting at least one outreach event/activity per year. All Ambassadors must participate in National Preparedness Month activities (September), Safety Fair (October), host a minimum of one outreach event, and at least one social media takeover week. 

Eligibility

• Minimum GPA of 3.5 
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to the CEPAR Ambassador Program’s mission 
• Open to undergraduate and graduate students who have at least two semesters remaining at Emory, including freshman with one semester completed  
• Previous/current campus involvement is preferred but not required
