Emory University does not award academic credit for classes taken with the Emory EMS Education Program. Upon course completion, program graduates will be eligible to earn national EMS certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). While this course requires considerable extracurricular work, it can be one of the most rewarding activities during your time at Emory.
Most students find that enrolling in 12 to 16 credit hours in addition to the Combined EMT/AEMT course is manageable. However, taking a more demanding class alongside the program can make balancing workloads more challenging. We recommend limiting rigorous courses to 1 or 2 at a time to avoid stress and ensure you can keep up with the program's demands. Students should consider their individual study habits and responsibilities outside of school when determining their total credit load.
A limited number of scholarships are available for students with demonstrated financial need. If you are in need of financial assistance and believe you may qualify, please email us at ems.education@emory.edu with your full name, date of birth, and 7-digit Emory Student ID Number. By submitting a financial aid request, you consent to Education Program staff working with the Emory Office of Financial Aid to determine an appropriate aid package. Please note that financial aid only covers the cost of tuition, and not additional costs associated with the program.
