Application Details:
- Demographic Information (required)
- Resume (maximum 1 page) (required)
- Essays
- Essay 1 of 2 (required): The purpose of the Emory EMS Education Program is to prepare program graduates to volunteer for Emory EMS. Describe why you want to undergo initial EMS education with the Emory EMS Education Program and eventually volunteer for Emory EMS. (maximum 500 words)
- Essay 2 of 2 (required): EMTs and AEMTs face the potential for failure on every call. Key competencies of a successful EMS clinician (and student) include the abilities to accept failure, view mistakes as learning opportunities, and grow from past experiences. Describe a significant mistake that you made recently in your life. What lessons did you learn from this experience? Explain. (maximum 500 words)
- Letter of Recommendation (optional): Applicants have the option to include one (1) letter of recommendation with their application. While the Emory EMS Education Program does not require specific criteria for letter writers, recommendations are typically provided by individuals who know the applicant in a professional capacity, such as teachers, employers, volunteer coordinators, or coaches.
- Submission Details: Letters should be saved as a PDF, written on official letterhead, and include a date, address, and signature. Letter writers will submit their letters using a separate online submission platform, which will be posted on our website in early March. Applicants should ensure their letter writer is prepared to submit the letter once the platform becomes available. Additionally, letter writers should be familiar with the applicant’s legal first name and last name as used on the application. This is especially important for applicants with legal and preferred first names that differ substantially (e.g., Xipeng “Kevin” Chen) to ensure that letters of recommendation are matched to the appropriate corresponding application.
Group Interview (Saturday, April 12, from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM):
- Participation in the group interview is required to be considered for acceptance. Select applicants will be invited for an in-person group interview on Saturday, April 12, from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Applicants should save this date on their calendars now in the event that they are selected. Specific details about the interview process will be sent to selected applicants following initial application decisions. (Note: there will be a separate in-person group interview for incoming new Emory students (Class of 2029 and Transfer Students) scheduled for after the Fall 2025 campus move-in date.)
